Indian President arrives on state visit in Laos

Her Excellency Pratibha Devisingh Patil, President of the Republic of India, and her delegation arrived here yesterday afternoon on a special plane on a state visit to the Lao PDR on 9-13 September.
The visit is in response to an invitation of Lao President Choummaly Sayasone.President Patil and her party were greeted at
Vientiane�s Wattay International Airport by Ms Khempheng Pholsena, Minister to the Prime Minister�s Office,Vice-Mayor
of Vientiane, Lao ambassador to India, senior officials from the Presidential Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Indian embassy in Laos.
A dinner reception to welcome the Indian President and her delegation was also held at the Lao Plaza Hotel in Vientiane by Indian residents in Vientiane on 9 September evening.
Besides, Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil will receive courtesy calls of Mr. Thongsing Thammavong, President of the National Assembly and Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh, Prime Minister of the Lao PDR, respectively.
The Indian President will visit the world heritage town of Luang Prabang in northern Laos where she will receive a courtesy call of Mr. Bounheuang Duangphrachanh, Governor of Luang Prabang province.
